How do I search for a job on this site?
They are four methods in which you can use the find ad listings on Work In Comics.
- The Recent Ad Tab displays the most recent ads that were submitted in each category and updated in real-time.
- The Popular Ad Tab displays the ads which have accumulated the most interest by replies and views. See what the industry is currently demanding.
- Ads By User, through a user's profile you are able to see the ads they posted.
- You can search by using the search feature. You are able to do an advanced search to find exactly what you are looking for. Once you get to the search page you can set such criteria as category, ad listing creation date, user, expiry date, location, text or titles. With many more search options.
You can also use notification settings and get the messages about the ads you're interested into your e-mail. You can subscribe to categories, topics, and users. Selecting criteria can be different: ad listings meeting your requirements or matching your resume.
Why is registration necessary?
You should create your personal account to manage your resume, save search criteria, notification settings and suitable ads as well as to apply and reply to the ads chosen. It's also FREE. Without an account you will not be able to post an ad.
Why should I create a resume?
A resume is a convenient way to shortly provide all the necessary information to present you as a potential creator. You'll be able to send your resume to other creators and publishers that meet your requirements or you can choose to upload it.
I already have a resume in MS Word, TXT or some other format. Can I Upload it?
Yes. However, for professional purposes we recommend that you upload a PDF file of your resume. In your ad listings you are able to highlight key points of your resume and post them in the description field. We strongly recommend you upload the PDF file.
Can I upload a Demo Reel?
Yes. However, for professional purposes we recommend that you upload a file or link of your video or reel. The maximum video that can be uploaded is 5MB. In your ad listings you are able to highlight key points of your demo reel and post them in the description field. We strongly recommend you upload the file in MPG format or MOV.
I used the job search and liked some of the jobs. What shall I do now?
Once you find an ad listing that suits your needs, interests and creative abilities, feel free to reply to the ad listing, by doing so you will be in direct contact with the creator who had posted the ad. In your message you are also able to direct the creator to your listing to possibly download your resume and see your work.
What shall I do if I get a notification about the new job which was applied to my resume?
Read through the job offered. If you're interested in this offer, contact the employer via the ad listing.
Where is the job I've chosen saved after I've clicked Save?
Your ad is saved in the Favorites Tab at the top of the website.
What do the Guidelines provide?
The guidelines provide you with an overview on how to create a basic contract, the type of ads that can be posted and other terms.
Why can't I find anything?
If you can't find a suitable creator at once; Create a listing and subscribe to the RSS feed in the categories you are most interested in. The feed will deliver your matches as soon as there is something suitable, you’ll be notified.
How often will I be notified?
The frequency depends upon your notification settings. You can set them in your Profile.
Can employers see my personal information?
No. The only personal information disclosed on the website is your username, real name, website link if any, and a description about yourself. You will also see a list of the ads that you have posted on the website.
How can I watch Tutorial Videos?
Tutorial videos are available exclusively on our blog these videos will teach you how to use Work In Comics effectively and efficiently. These videos will also be available on the side bar of the website at all times.
What's the Tips and Advice section about?
This section will contain links updated on a weekly basis from experts around the comic book industry to help jump start you on a career in the comic book industry. There will be marketing, resume, networking and writing advice from professionals. This sidebar widget will always be available on our website and blog.
